Pavement Music was founded in 1993. The label
focuses on "street-level" artists, hence the name Pavement. According to
president Mark Nawara, "we don't expect to have hit records right out of
the box with new artists. I look at the long term goal, and work with a
group in planning their career over several albums and years." It is
this commitment to the artist that is enabling Pavement Music to reach
its goal of solidifying a roster of unique and talented groups. Pavement
Music's catalog is characterized by a wide variety of metal styles. Over
the past six years the label has released albums by Crowbar, Forbidden,
Scatterbrain, Malevolent Creation, Vader, Internal Bleeding, Krabathor,
The Gathering, Therion, Solitude Aeturnus, and Gilby Clarke to name a
few.
