For the curious who ask themselves "What is Cropduster Records?" - - the short definition reads like this: cropduster (krop’duster) noun 1. An independent record label. 2. A musician-driven effort to achieve individual success through mutual promotion. 3. All for one and everyone for themselves.
Formed in 1994 with the release of tabulaRASA'a (Bob Perry, Sean Seymour, Chris Flynn and Alan Katz) first cd,
Somewhere Out There and armed with a Macintosh computer and Sean's access to the postage meter at his day gig, Cropduster
Records figured they could do as poor a job of releasing a record as anybody else. According to their biography they made
lots of mistakes, learned a lot, but felt certain they could do a better job with the next record. While hanging out in clubs
after their friends' bands played and lamenting about the state of the record business, they found several friends in the
process of preparing their own indie releases. After a few pints, the notion that "In unity there is strength" began to make a lot of sense. Thus, a full-fledged indie label was born.
