Offline Music for Android

Today, we released an updated Audiogalaxy Music application for Android (version 2.2.1) with a premium add-on that enables you to play music using Audiogalaxy when you don’t have internet access, when your Audiogalaxy Helper is offline, or when you simply wish to not consume bandwidth. You can now ‘pin’ a song or a group of songs to your device. Pinning a song downloads a high quality version in the background to your SD card so it can be played offline. No need for wires or clunky desktop software – you have full control right from the application on your device!

Our users love the streaming experience that Audiogalaxy provides on mobile devices, with glitch-free audio even in areas with weak network coverage. Super-fast streaming directly from your computer to your device using Audiogalaxy is a great way to access all your music everywhere, without worrying about endless uploading to someone else’s cloud or worrying about hitting silly limits.

But even in our highly connected world, we sometimes find ourselves out of reach of the internet – on a plane, in the subway or in the wilderness. Additionally, you may be more conscious of how much bandwidth you are using on a limited data plan. Pinning the songs you like takes care of both of these problems as well as reducing battery usage.

Simply pin entire playlists, artists, albums or genres directly from the top-level tabs, or pick and choose individual songs. In addition to making them available offline, pinning songs you play most will reduce network utilization and improve battery life, because the local copy will be used even when you are online. You can pin a limited number of songs as part of the free trial, and once you purchase the add-on there is no limit (except for space on your device) on how many songs you can download. Remember, you can queue songs for download at any time but to ensure best performance, songs are only downloaded when you are connected to a WiFi network.

As you navigate your collection, you will see a pin icon alongside songs available offline, or songs queued for download. You can check the status of your downloads and the space consumed on your SD card from the Settings tab, and you can free up space by unpinning songs if you need to. Toggling between online and offline mode is easy – simply hit ‘Menu’ and select ‘Go Offline’ or ‘Go Online’.

Protip: The first playlist you’ll want to pin is your “Most Played Songs”. That will get you quick access to the music you are most likely to listen to. After that, pin your ‘Liked Songs” list. If you don’t have any Liked songs, look for the little heart in extra bar of options on the player.

Ringtone Creator

Customize any song into a ringtone

The ‘Offline Playback‘ add-on in this new version joins the ‘Ringtone Creator‘ add-on, which lets you easily convert an unlimited number of songs in your Audiogalaxy collection into ringtones. With the Ringtone Creator, you can precisely configure the start time so that you can create that special ringtone which will be the envy of all your friends.

While streaming your music will continue to remain free, we hope you enjoy this first set of premium add-ons. We love getting feedback from users, so do let us know what you think about these updates.

PS: We’re also working on bringing offline playback to iOS, so iOS fans – stay tuned!

Still the one that all others are compared to! Simply THE BEST!

This is a fantastic feature for my Android phone – but what would be even more awsome would be an App for my WP7 phone!

  3. Steven says:

Sounds like someone is going after Google’s Music Beta…

Wow! I tried this and it works AMAZINGLY well – so seamless and simply to use. Great job – totally worth paying for. This was an awesome app, and now it’s even better. Thanks devs!

This is AWESOME! I’ve been using AudioGalaxy for a long time, and sometimes I had to play music on my phone with another player when no network was available… Now it’s all in one!

  6. Olaf says:

Sounds great. How much is it? I can’t find any price tag for the add-on.

Liking this, but will this integrate into the web app? I shuffle my collection often while at work, and I’d REALLY like to be able to send songs to be downloaded on my phone via the web. (and not just the song currently playing) Any way to do this?

I purchased the add-on and I’m liking ir so far. The only “complaint”/suggestion I have is that it would be much nicer if the app stored the download songs for offline mode in another folder on the SD card so that other players can easily acces it withouth problems, preserving the artist, album and title info. I that hiding this to others apps is probably the reason that you use for storing the song in the com.audiogalaxy folder but I don’t really see the point. Anyway, I’m very happy with the purchase, keep with the good work, this is really the only app that let’s me manage my huge music collection.

Other players can access it – check out the FAQ (Android section) for details.

    Hello,

Question: I saw the offline mode in the market. I did not find whether the service is a subscription fee or a one-time purchase. As a conscientious consumer I would like to see this in fine print- is this an annual fee (like spotify) or a one-time purchase?

    Thank you,
    Erik

  11. Viraj says:

It’s a one-time purchase. We’ll try to make it more obvious, thanks!
